Black Rock Nippers
Life Saving Clubs from around Australia cater for junior members also known as “nippers”
The Junior program is activity-based and aims to provide an environment where children can have fun, develop new skills, meet new people, learn about water safety and develop an awareness of the beach and the aquatic environment.

Competition is offered in a number of different disciplines that not only assists members maintain their surf skills, but also provides children with a regular physical activity that incorporates fun and team work.
Juniors are from under 5 years, and are trained by experienced, qualified coaches, who instruct in both land and water exercises, beach flags, run & wade races, and beach relay. They learn basic beach and water safety. Older juniors learn to paddle nipper boards and are permitted to use the equipment when the club house is open during summer. At the age of 7 years they can (if they wish) compete in junior carnivals, held over the summer at bay and ocean beaches, and run by Life Saving Victoria.
