Black Rock Seniors

seniors cadets 2016

Black Rock has a long history of training and competition in Juniors, Seniors and Masters. Summer training starts in October and runs until April each year, with a die hard group continuing to train through winter. At the start of the season all seniors and masters (13 years and older) focus on requalifying and getting new awards to keep their lifesaving skills up to date, and as the season progresses the focus shifts to fitness and competition training. Each year a growing number of Seniors compete at carnivals at some of the Victoria's most iconic beaches, culminating in the State Championships in March. Club trips are organised for some of the carnivals, most notably the Lorne trip where the seniors show their support for the Masters at their championships, and the states long weekend which has become one of the highlights of the season, a trip Seniors have to earn their place on.

We are always looking for new members and welcome anyone who is looking for a fun way to meet new people and keep fit, all the while providing a service to the community. Seniors train from 6:30pm - 8.30pm Wednesday nights and 2.30pm - 4.30pm Saturdays from October until April, with a bronze camp run to get new members qualified for patrol in November. Competitions are on selected Sundays throughout summer and all Seniors are encouraged to attend, however it is not compulsory. Those people who choose not to compete are generally required to patrol on carnival days.
